This time I tried googling first:P

I don't really know how to tell if this processor: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?manufacture=Intel&sku=19143&vpn=BX80557E6400

will match this motherboard: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00590499&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=1818344&lang=en

Thanks to anyone who can help me, I'm just a total newb when it comes to processors.

(edit)

I'm about 99 percent sure that they're compatible, I just want someone who knows for sure to give me the thumbs up before I waste a bunch of cash Very Happy

The board uses the intel 945 chipset. Core 2 Duos are only compatible with chipsets 965 and 975.

This site begs to differ. It says my 945p will be able to support it.

Last I checked the C2Ds were compatible with previous socket775 boards. Am I wrong with this?

No, you're right.

The processor is a socket LGA775 and it should work with that mobo. I don't know why it's not listed. If you really wanna make sure, you can write to the website and ask them.

I'm pretty sure they're compatible though.
