Hey guys. Decided to make a new thread to gain interest in a possible xen remake. The other thread had a lot of boring early gameplay videos. Mods can delete it or keep it up. Not like this forum is active.
Anyway, my xenclone is starting to take shape. I have made a lot of progress in the past 2 weeks. I've implemented a starting menu with the ability to create/delete characters. I've a also added 5 character slots. I've also worked a lot on the item system and it is starting to take shape. This by far has been the most complicated thing to implement but it's working for the most part. The plan now is to implement all the items in the game. I'm even going to add more items that don't exist in xen. When that is complete I will start working on stats and then adding new environments to the game, maybe a map maker to make things faster and easier. Let me know what you think. And also let me know of features you would like to see implemented.

Did you even take the models? That's an impressive level of effort on theft. Couldn't you direct that effort toward making something "almost like" Xenimus that won't get 1 shot KO'd by a level 1 warlock's flamma?


The idea is to create a game based on and better than classic xenimus. EJs models give me a template to work with that could be changed if need be. Once the game is in a decent state I will worry about it. We'll see.

Debating on whether I should make the mage models for all races look like that classic human mage model but with their proper racial features, or if I should just have them wear thier normal version of the armor. Does that make sense? What do you guys think

Yeah I don't have those models. Wish I did. If I somehow aquire them I'd put them in. I could try to edit the sp plate model I have to look more traditional. We'll see.

I’m in favor of making all mage models look like the classic human mage.

I’ve always played wizards and warlocks and I would always pick human for the starting robes. Making a unique color scheme of your robes and belt was always fun.

Ok keybindings and keybindings ui are working. Classes now are assigned specific spells. Started working on figuring out good formulas for stats/level and how they will impact your character. I know I will keep the traditional stats from xen, but I will change how they work. For example I plan on having intel be used for all casters, with wisdom being the "agility" for casting. Right now I have a rough formula for calculating hp/mp based on level, class, and intel/cons. Stat values will be different than Xenimus. Not sure what god forsaken formula EJ came up with for his stats, but I will definitely not try to emulate that messed up system. The priorities now are building spells, creating unique classes with those spells, and create environments.

Thanks guys :). Just a quick update. I took some time off development but I am back working on the game. It's been a tremendous amount of work but things are really starting to come together. The game runs way better and smoother than in the last video I posted. I will post a video or screenshots later. I am going to start adding networking to the game in the near future, but I still need to work on some other things. If you have any suggestions for the game post them here and I will consider it. Stay tuned.

First screenshot of 2 players in game! It's not much but it's a big step in the right direction. As expected this broke a lot of things in the game so I will have to spend some time tweaking everything to work right for online play.
